Anchor Bay
Anchor Bay is the famous beach situated next to Popeye Village and boasts breath-taking views of the set.
From this amazing piece of coastline, you have the opportunity to view the filming location of the classic 1980 comedy-musical movie Popeye .
Popeye Village has become one of the major tourist attractions on the Maltese Islands filled with a number of colourful fun activities for anyone young or still young at heart.
Armier Bay
The beach at Armier is on the northern side of the island and makes up the top part of Mellieha bay. It is a sandy bay in front of Comino and Gozo with bars and small restaurants. It is exposed to the north winds meaning the seas can be choppy at times – barbecuing is permitted on this beach, meaning it could be the perfect place to meet with friends.
Balluta Bay
Balluta Bay lies on a long stretch of rocky coastline that goes from Qui-si-Sana in Sliema all the way to St. Julian's. This coastline is thronged with sunbathers during the peak summer months, being that it is surrounded by a lot of hotels, restaurants and accommodation.
The favourite beach areas are the Tigne area, Qui si-Sana, Għar id-Dud, the Exiles and Fond Għadir.
Blue Lagoon, Comino Island
The Blue Lagoon is an incredible beach on the small island of Comino and boasts a magical blue water that no other beach possesses. You will need to consider that the sandy area is very small and you need to be prepared to be on the rocks. However, just a five minute swim from Comino is Cominoto, a very small space of sand where you can pay 5 euros to go by boat and stay away from the Comino crowds.
Comino is accessible via boat trip from Gozo or Malta.
Coral Cave
Also known as Dragonara Cave, the cave is a rocky hole located in the northern part of the island that tourists are able to jump inside of. It is one of the most incredible places on the island, however, it is very little known because it is difficult to reach as there is no public transport.
Gnejna Bay
The bay is a popular tourist destination located on the west coast of Malta. The beach that surrounds the bay is mostly sandy. It is located under the cliff on the north side of the bay and close to both Golden Bay and Riviera Bay. Gnejna Bay is a popular beach for nudists, although the practice is illegal in Malta.
Ghajn Tuffieha Bay
This beautiful sandy beach is located on the north-west coast of Malta, very near to Golden Bay. Unlike Golden Bay, Għajn Tuffieħa Bay is less easy to reach, you need to have in mind that you will need to walk a little more than for other beaches. Għajn Tuffieħa Bay has one of the most incredible views within Malta and the area’s natural beauty will more than make up for the walk. The crystal water, views and the facilities, such as restaurants, sunbed and umbrella rentals means you’re guaranteed to have a great day.
Golden Bay
Golden Bay is located next to Għajn Tuffieħa. Near this beach, you would find the Radisson Golden Sands Hotel. This beach is sandy and gets during the summer full of people, however, you could find a place to relax because has a larger stretch of sand. It is very easy to reach by car and public transport, you will find restaurants and facilities and also perfect for barbecues. Because is a very popular beach, you will consider coming early to find some place to parking and a good spot to land.
Hondoq Ir-Rummien (Gozo)
The Hondoq ir-Rummien beach is very popular location for swimming thanks to the clear waters. Here you can enjoy a good spot for diving and snorkeling. The Gozitans is a very good place to barbecue and spend time with the family. This beach also has an amazing view over Comino and boasts a great coastline dotted with traditional salt pans. It is a family-friendly place because of its location below Qala on the southern coast of Gozo. However, the closest bus service goes to Hondoq ir-Rummien, so it might be worth considering renting a car.
Mellieħa Bay
Also known as Għadira Bay, it is located in the North of Malta. Mellieha Bay is the largest sandy beach on Malta, has easy access by car and bus and you will find many water sports such as sea kayaking, water-skiing, windsurf, banana rides and more. All this characteristic make this beach a really family- friendly place where you can have a great day.

Mgarr Ix-Xini
This beach is the combination of a creek and steep-sided natural valley and represents a small yet magical place to visit. It is one of the more remote beaches in Gozo and offers a perfect tranquillity that you need. This beach is surrounded by rocks but has incredibly clear water, perfect for practicing snorkeling or diving.
If you want to come to this place, it is necessary to either go by car or to plan a hiking trip from Sannat or Xewkija.
Paradise Bay
This sandy beach is the home of relaxation. It is a small beach located close to Cirkewwa, the most northern part of Malta and you will enjoy crystal-clear waters, perfect for snorkelling. It is a very family-friendly, however, parties are sometimes organised here on weekends. The beach also offers sunbed and umbrella rentals, as well as other facilities.
Ir-Ramla l-Ħamra
Ir-Ramla l-Ħamra is located at the bottom of a rich valley on the northern side of the Gozitan island.
This beach is quiet and sandy and is known as the Red Sandy Beach, it is a very family-friendly place and perfect to enjoy the Gozo nature with the Calypso Cave. The Calypso Cave is a very iconic part of this beach thanks to the mythological history of the Odyssey.
This beach is the perfect place to have an undisturbed and peaceful time and is full of natural beauty.
San Blas Bay (Gozo)
San Blas Bay is another red sandy beach, located on the north coast of Gozo. It is accessible from the village of in-Nadur via a narrow road, the end of which is closed to traffic meaning you will need to walk and climb a little in order to reach your destination. This hiking trip discourages some people and makes this beach a very peaceful and quiet place. Here, you will see just sea, nature and incredible views to the valleys of Gozo.
Sliema Pools
The area of Sliema pools is one of the most visited places in Malta, most of the people usually go there due to the great central location. It is an amazing and unusual place built on the rocky coast of Sliema, offering a different and relaxing seacoast experience close by to the central tourist areas of Malta.
St. Peter's Pool
St. Peter’s Pool owes its name to the pool-shaped nature of this little alcove. It is a bay on the East coast of Malta, near Marsaxlokk. Although it is not a sandy beach – is a flat rocky surface – it is a sizable location around the sea with enough space for tourists to find a good spot. St. Peter’s Pool is perfect for barbecues and snorkeling.
Whilst this beautiful beach is not the easiest location to reach, efforts have been made in recent times to make the area more appealing to tourists. However, the secluded nature of the spot means it can still be difficult to find facilities, sunbeds and umbrella rentals or places to eat so you should consider coming well prepared with provisions.
